Quantum research is expensive. Public access should not be. Your gift keeps our papers free, our tools open, and our classroom materials in the hands of teachers who need them.
We are not raising money to build a product. We are raising it to keep a capability public.
Most quantum research is funded by governments and then enclosed by private licenses. We think the public deserves the research it paid for. Your support covers the gap between what grants pay for and what open science actually costs: documentation, field trials, teacher training, and the maintenance nobody funds.
Every gift is unrestricted unless you ask otherwise, and every dollar is accounted for in our annual review.

Donor-advised funds
We are a 501(c)(3) public charity and accept DAF grants. Email us for our legal name, EIN, and a grant letter.
Appreciated stock
Gifts of stock can be more tax-efficient than cash. Email giving@ruqilab.org and we will coordinate with your broker.
Employer matching
Many employers match charitable gifts. Send us the form and we will complete it. If your employer requires a specific portal, tell us and we will register.
Equipment & in-kind
We welcome cryogenic components, optical hardware, and test equipment. We will credit the gift publicly unless you prefer anonymity.

Unrestricted support and sponsored research are welcome. We do not offer exclusive licenses, editorial control, or quiet influence over hiring.

We publish an annual public-benefit review, quarterly board minutes, and a plain-language budget. If a program does not work, we say so and stop it.

Is my gift tax-deductible?
Ruqi Lab is a 501(c)(3) public charity. Gifts are tax-deductible in the United States to the extent allowed by law. We will send a written acknowledgment for every gift, and annual summaries in January.
How is the money used?
Roughly 60% goes to research staff and experiments, 21% to engineering and facilities, 11% to education and public programs, 5% to open infrastructure, and 3% to administration. The annual budget narrative is published on the About page.
Can I restrict a gift to a program?
Yes, for gifts above $1,000. We will tell you honestly whether the restriction fits the program. We do not accept restricted gifts that require publication review or exclusive rights.
Do you take corporate money?
We accept unrestricted corporate gifts and in-kind equipment, but no sponsorship that comes with editorial control, exclusive licenses, or a say in hiring. Corporate support is listed on the About page.
Can I visit before giving?
Please do. Public Lab Night is the second Thursday of every month, 6–8 pm, and does not require registration. For a donor briefing, email giving@ruqilab.org.
How do I change or stop a monthly gift?
Email giving@ruqilab.org and we will stop it immediately. No forms, no retention call, no guilt. Monthly gifts are managed by our finance team, not a third-party platform.
